A familiar piece of downtown Chattanooga may soon have a new owner.
After serving the Chattanooga community for more than 40 years, Chattanooga Billiard Club has been listed for sale as owners Phil and Janice Windham prepare for retirement. The couple, who have spent decades building the business into a downtown landmark, now divide their time between Chattanooga and a farm they established in Mississippi and are hoping to pass the torch to someone who will continue the property’s legacy.
The sale includes the iconic Chattanooga Billiard Club building at 725 Cherry Street, a three-story, 15,000 square-foot property featuring multiple bars, pool tables, a commercial kitchen, dining space, and room for future expansion. The neighboring former Burns Tobacconist building at 723 Cherry Street is also available, offering a unique cigar lounge setup complete with luxury finishes and private club amenities.
What makes this opportunity particularly interesting is the potential for the next chapter. The current owners and listing team hope to see the properties remain gathering places for Chattanooga residents whether that means continuing the billiard club, creating a new entertainment venue, opening a restaurant, or bringing another unique concept to downtown. With continued residential growth, new hotels, and increasing foot traffic in the area, the location offers significant possibilities for both operators and investors.
For many locals, Chattanooga Billiard Club is more than just a business. It’s been a place where friends meet after work, where celebrations happen, and where memories have been made for generations. While the sale marks the end of an era for the Windham family, it also creates an exciting opportunity for someone to build on a well established piece of Chattanooga’s history.
The good news for longtime patrons is that the doors aren’t closing anytime soon. The Windhams plan to keep the business operating until the right buyer or tenant is found, ensuring this downtown institution remains part of Chattanooga’s entertainment scene for the foreseeable future.
